before we moved into 2012 i decided to give away a newborn session to a deserving mama. i asked that people nominate someone they wanted to win and that person would gather votes and then a winner would be determined. the mama of this beautiful little girl won by a landslide. how blessed is she to have this perfect little person and also so many people who obviously care very much about her!?

this little peanut was as sweet as they come. she slept though the whole session, though blanket changes, headband changes and being wrapped up and un-wrapped! wish i could sleep that contently! i hope these photos reflect what a breathtakingly beautiful baby this is.

i wrote that title and then i do believe he was actually born in 2011. baby L came a few weeks early and had to spend some time in the hospital getting bigger. so although he looks tiny, he is actually a few weeks old here! so neat to photograph for this family as i also photographed mom and dad’s wedding a couple years back. i love seeing the evolution of families and feel pretty blessed when they choose me to capture the biggest moments. he was a good little model and sure liked hanging out in front of the fireplace.

we recently got to spend a very relaxing and wonderful weekend in the mountains of colorado with my sister and her family at their newly built cabin. it was so nice to spend thanksgiving together, in one spot. the kids were happy, adults relaxed, it was great! i also got to snap a few family pictures of my sister and family. the boys gave me a run for my money so i naturally had to throw in a few of the silly faces. there were LOTS it was a neat setting and although very cold we got some nice ones!

mind you putting their arm around each other was nothing short of TORTURE oh boys!

i finally get a chance to post some images from a session from MY family! it was actually a hoot to see the “bloopers” from this day. now i know what my clients feel when their kids are being less than cooperative. i had set the stage for the perfect session…food, naps, bribes and a nicely blending color scheme…however little peanut had other ideas. i think we squeaked out some winners and i’m saving “the” Christmas card pic as a surprise. enjoy and realize that even photographers kids misbehave at photo shoots

first off…the blooper reel… it’s okay you can laugh

my beautiful blue eyed FIVE year old! i love him so much, so proud of him. he is the sweetest big brother to his little brother, so smart and full of life.

these boys adore their daddy!! i think the feeling is mutual

my little peanut turned 2 and he is the sweetest, funniest, most particular little imp. love him to bits. he adores his big brother too and loudly asks when he wakes “see-sun (blake for “ethan”) gone!? see-sun!!!!!”. finally i can attest after 2 years they are what i hoped for, brothers who adore each other, play together, laugh together and yes occasionally fight, but even that is short lived.

can’t get enough of his kisses! some day i won’t be quite as cool, so i’ll take all i can get now!

i did get a perfect shot – just one that i will save for those getting it as a present for christmas!

this is the second time i’ve had the pleasure of photographing this dear family. the first was at their son’s wedding last year and they were just so gracious, kind and generous. really made me feel at home. we had kind of a crazy day with snow in june that altered the wedding plans but they just rolled with it and that really shows how relaxed they are. so i was pretty honored to be asked again to photograph their family. knowing they were coming from gillette and denver for this shoot, i felt lots of nerves and to top it off it was cold and windy this day! but we just said, lets go for it and i think it turned out great. they were all troopers out in the cold and probably the easiest family you could ask for. full of laughs, joy and love for each other. thank you again for making me feel special and choosing me for these memories!

october mini session 10 {wyoming lifestyle photographer}

yay! all 10 sessions are done!!!

it’s always nerve wracking photographing a fellow photographer. they see things that others don’t, have heightened senses for flaws, see the imperfections…at least i do! this was a combination of two shoots (you may notice the different backgrounds) as theirs was the last mini session of the day and sadly as i was afraid, we lost light too fast. they were kind enough to let me reschedule and must to this poor guy dismay had to do two shoots when one almost sent him running for the hills. he must like this lady pretty much to do this for her, not once, but twice. i’ve gotten to know this lovely lady on a few wedding shoots and helping her with what i can as she embarks on her own photography career. it was fun to shoot this relationship, made me reminisce about my own beginnings and wish them much happiness.

so very close to the end of the mini session posts, thanks again everyone for bearing with me during the end of busy season. had a ball with this spunky family! the kids were so sweet and good and once i showed them the magic screen on the back of my camera (note to self: wait until all other avenues have failed before pulling this one out they were all too happy to pose and then “see” so adorable. i don’t know how this busy mama keeps up with them but she seems to take it all in stride. grandma also came along which helped in kid wrangling. hope you enjoy and that these were worth the wait.

these pictures aren’t perfect in that not everyone is smiling just so or looking at the camera, but that’s what i like the most about them…they are real and probably just like this family is on a normal day

thank you guys for being so patient while i waded through all the mini session images. i have realized #1 just how much time outside of the actual mini session day it takes to edit all my images and #2 i take WAY too many! haha! i guess i’d rather have too many than not enough, you never know when the ol’ focus is off, someone’s eyes are closed or many other things.

this family is the CUTEST! i had the pleasure of also photographing their wedding a few years ago, so it was neat to see them as a family with the most adorable kids.

his face here just cracked me up! so cute!
